CSL Surveys continue to provide detailed internal BIM models for various clients involved in heritage and preservation. We were recently commisioned to provide a BIM model of a listed lobby of a theatre in Londons West End.
Multiple high-resolution laser scans supplemented with photography were used to generate the detailed model. Individual moulding elements were precisely reproduced in the BIM environment as well as the complex sweeps of the ceilings and moulded beams.
Materials were added to the surfaces to enhance the colour and form and strategic lighting was added to reflect the true lighting conditions.
The model will be used for visualisations demonstrating the unique features of the lobby and with a combination of the point cloud and photography provide a three-dimensional record of the individual mouldings for posterity or re-creation.
